Ring Around the Rosie

Emily has really been singing a lot lately and I was fortunate enough to catch this little gem on film. I wish she would find something other than her floor lamp to play ring around the rosie with, but whatever I guess. She has even started making up some of her own words to some of her favorite tunes, like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. It is funny. We were just getting ready to go pick some strawberries at the strawberry patch up the road from our house, but a thunder storm is imminent so check back in a couple of weeks and maybe we will have strawberry patch pics.

Out of Bed

Back on Valentine's Day weekend, we graduated Emily from her crib to a toddler bed. This was now 3 months ago. Never in the past 3 months has she attempted to get out of bed before I went in to get her. We knew the day might be coming when she would get out and wander around or play or something. We thought that day might be coming soon because when she visited grandma and grandad Miller a few weeks ago, she got off of her little blow up mattress (we graduated her out of the pack and play too) and went downstairs to find playmates while daddy slept. Well, the day has come. This morning I heard a little voice and when I opened my eyes, Emily was standing next to our bed smiling at me. Not a bad way to wake up, really, but I think the days of the "bed cage" working are probably over. She's not a baby anymore...

Sprinkler Fun

Daddy mowed the lawn on Thursday so on Friday evening he had to reset the sprinklers to make sure they were in the right place. Emily loves to watch the sprinklers so, since it was about 90 degrees and it was a Friday night, we decided to let her run around and play in the sprinkler. The video below shows the fun times!

Zoey & Riley's Birthday

Emily came home from Grandma & Granddad Miller's house on Friday, May 7. On Saturday, May 8, she was off to a birthday party. Emily's friends (twins) Zoey and Riley (daughters of one of my co-workers) had a party for their 4th birthday. They had it at "Play Nation," a place that sells swing sets, play houses and bounce houses, but also has a bunch of their equipment set up inside where kids can play. They host parties on the weekend. Pretty good marketing campaign, in my estimation. Emily's favorite part of the party was the lollipop - no question. She is really into lollipops right now. She did remember to tell her friends happy birthday and give them hugs, which I thought was really cute. She had a great time!

Visit to Grandma & Grandad Miller's House

Daddy was on vacation the first week of May so he took Emily to Martinsburg to visit the whole Miller crew. They visited Great Grandma Gamble at Westminster Canterbury and had lunch on the patio. They visited Great Grandma and Grandad Miller at Rellim Orchard and Emily rearranged all the teddy bears all over her house. In between the visits with the great-grands, there were lots of trips with Grandma and Granddad to the local playgrounds, some clean up projects around the house, lots of time with Granddad's trains and just some good ol' relaxing too. Emily had a great time and looks forward to her next visit already. We are thinking about going to the Gamble family reunion in September. Emily does keep a very full social calendar.

Fun Play at Home

Emily is really starting to get into pretend play so playing at home is starting to really get fun. She started out just playing in her little kitchen, but now she is into everything from lining up all of her chairs and toys to make a choo-choo train, to setting up very elaborate parties for her stuffed friends, to playing in a "tent" on her bed with all of her favorite toys and more! In the picture of her sitting on the couch, note that she has lined up all her stuffed friends and each one has been given a little wooden cookie for "snack." Fun times.
