Coonskin Picnic & The Ducks

Saturday, May 9, 2015

We like to make sure to do a family picnic and duck feeding trip at Coonskin park sometime in the spring before the weather gets too hot.  So this was our weekend!  Emily likes to see the pond, feed the ducks (and geese) and play on the playground so she really looks forward to the trip.  For my part, I kinda look forward to the picnic even though I am not super outdoorsy.  I also love how friendly and trusting our local ducks and geese are.  They eat right out of our hands which is super fun.

Picnic Fun!
Emily has also learned over the past two to three years that the Kona Shave Ice truck frequents the Coonskin playground and she absolutely loves shave ice.  I could tell she was watching for it and listening for its music.  As her luck would have it, the truck arrived right before we left.  So she got her icee and she was tickled...grape...and watermelon.  And as you can see from her dripping wet hair, it was also much  warmer than we anticipated.  Still though, it was a great time for all...especially the ducks and geese.

First Ice Skating Show

Sunday, May 3, 2015

Emily got to skate in her first ice show this weekend.  Her program was a group number skated by many of the kids from the "Learn to Skate" program.  Probably 12-15 kids total in her group. The show's theme was a rock-n-roll time hop and Emily's group skated to  a medley of a couple different 80's songs.  It was cute. We also got a chance to see some of the kids from the synchro group and many of the older girls from the Charleston Figure Skating Club.  Emily loved every minute and she did a good job. The best part was that we finally learned how to get her in the Club and she got a private coach too.  Overall, definitely worth it.

Field Day

Friday, May 1, 2015

Well, I am behind in my posting again, but this time I am posting from a brand new computer that is much faster than my old one.  Happy mommy.

Field day was Friday, May 1st and unlike last year, this year was quite chilly.  The event almost got rained out (which would have meant the kids had to do their activities in the gym - not nearly as fun) but luckily rain held off for most of the morning and the kids got to play outside.  I missed the event this year, but thanks to some mom friends, I have a few pics for my album. Emily reported that her favorite parts were face painting and tug-of-war.
