Drama Play

Not all of the drama performances are for parents.  Many are just performed for other students in the school.  This was one of those.  I am not 100% sure what this one was about because she mostly learned it at school and practiced at school.  I think it was  something about pain and calling a doctor.  This drama performance was part of a "Drama War" between 3rd, 4th and 5th grade groups.  The winning group was to receive first choice of ACSI drama pieces for the spring show, a trophy and most importantly, bragging rights! Teachers were the judges.

In the end, Emily's group won and she could not have been more excited! She has her trophy proudly displayed on her dresser and is looking forward to bragging rights when they return to school.  HA!

Valentine's Day

This was Emily's last year for a Valentine's Day party in her school classroom.  Where do the years go??  For her last Valentine box, she settled on one we found at Target that you could build into a little rocket ship.  (Space Camp really made an impression on her.)  She built it all herself and it came out pretty darn cute.

Of course, out growing Valentine's Day parties at school doesn't mean outgrowing Valentine's day fun at home.  Emily got 2 new pairs of skate pants, a Valentine Pusheen (imagine that) and a gift card for our upcoming long weekend at Disney.

For her treat at school, she handed out little cards and stacks of Pringles!  So cute!

And during after care, she and her friends drew Valentine's Day pictures.  Love this girl!  I'm going to miss the school holiday parties.  Sigh...

During our down time around the house in January, we had been watching the Hallmark Winterfest movies.  I think these movies helped spur Emily's renewed interest in going skiing.  We had taken her a few times when she was really little, but watching these movies (I think) inspired her to want to try again.  So, off to Winterplace to give it a whirl.

She got the hang of it pretty quickly and left the bunny hill for the big slopes - complete with a ski lift!  She loved the ski lift.

She did a great job and definitely wants to go back...because we were really hoping she would fall in love with another expensive winter sport...

After Christmas we took the opportunity to rest and just be home.  No running.  No traveling.  No filled up schedule.  Just rest and relax at home.  Even still, though, we still found some fun stuff to do around the house.

Emily made chocolate Pusheen popsicles with her little set from her most recent Pusheen box.  They are really easy to use and come out really cute.  The chocolate milk ones are especially cute since they even come out Pusheen color!

Daniel took Emily to a video game creation workshop at the Clay Center one weekend.  I don't have any pictures from the event, but she liked it so much that they bought the software program and Emily has been working on coding her very own asteroids game!  It's really neat!

Finally, we re-did Emily's bathroom with all of her Pusheen stuff that she received for Christmas.  She has a new shower curtain, towels, bath mats, a lotion pump and even some pictures and accessories.  She's in love with it...and  I kind of am too.

Winter is off to a quiet start.  Very little snow and a little warmer than usual too which is nice.  We definitely appreciated a few weeks at home to slow down and relax.
