Sun Valley - Day 4

 Thursday, June 30, 2022

Today was more of the same.  The morning brought training at the ice rink with Craig and Jonathon followed by Konditorei coffees and pastries.

Then in the afternoon we hit up the pool for some more fun in the sun.  We got out the little ball and a rubber frisbee and that made for several more hours of fun.

Then it was time to clean up for dinner.  Tonight, we had reservations at The Ram over at the Sun Valley Inn.  We tried to get a reservation here last year, but no luck.  We were excited to try it out this year and we even had a beautiful patio table.  Daniel got a huge pork chop.  Emily got a steak, and I got scallops.  It was all really good, and we even got a special dessert for our 18th wedding anniversary!  I'm still not sure how they knew we had an anniversary this week.

Sun Valley - Day 3

Wednesday, June 29, 2022

Another day, more adventures.  Most of our days began at the rink at 7:30am followed by a trip to Konditorei.  We loved their pastries and I was a big fan of the snowball mocha.  Plus, it really is a beautiful bakery.

I didn't take a lot of pictures of all the skating training this week, but this was photo worthy - Emily working on her double axle with the pole harness.  She worked with Jonathon Hunt all week and made a lot of progress - especially with her entry and even with her rotation.  She was able to land a few, but when she really got praise was when she fell because she was really hitting the proper landing position.

This time of year is so beautiful around the resort.  Everything was blooming and I swear I wanted to take a picture of every single flower.

Sun Valley - Day 2

Tuesday, June 28, 2022

In between Emily's skating and Daniel's mountain biking, we found time for some other adventures as a family.  We loved pool time at the Sun Valley Inn pool.  We got passes to the pool as part of our condo rental.  We got a little frisbee and some balls and we really had fun.  We went several times and a couple times we had the whole pool to ourselves!

One morning, while Daniel was riding, Emily and I rode into town to find the Hailey Coffee Company and try out their smoothies.  They were really good!  On our way back, we met up with Daniel and stopped to visit some of the locals!

Of course we spent time riding around town on our bikes and one evening after dinner, we rode into Ketchum and tried out their ice cream shop.  It was also really good.

Sun Valley 2022 - Day 1

Sunday/Monday, June 26-27, 2022

We were all very excited to be headed back to Sun Valley again this year.  Skating, mountain biking, pool time and more were calling our name!  We arrived on Sunday afternoon right into the Sun Valley airport!  We had to say in Hailey for the first night until our condo was ready, but then on Monday morning we headed straight to the resort for Emily's first round of lessons.

Then, while we waited for the condo to be ready, we had lunch in downtown Ketchum at Smokey Mountain Pizza and walked through some of the little shops.  I got a cute new spatula with plants on it and Emily got a Jelly Cat stuffed ice cream cone. It was so cute!

Then it was time to get back to the rink for more skating and then finally moving into our condo for the week!  We stayed at Cottonwood this year (instead of at the resort) and our condo was right behind the rink.  If there weren't so many trees we could have seen the rink from our window.  Perfect location.  We had 3 bedrooms and bathrooms a nice living/dining room and a kitchen.

After unpacking and having a quick dinner in, we headed out for a bike ride and ice cream at A La Mode!  This shop was closed last year so we were all excited to go this year.  The ice cream sandwiches were fun and my malt was yummy!  We will definitely be back!

With that, our night was headed to a close.  Time for sleep so we could get up and have more adventures again tomorrow!

Elite Camp with JJ

Monday, June 20, 2022

This week has been in the making since Easter when we first met JJ.  We were hoping we could convince him to come to WV and do a camp with all of our skaters.  Lucky for us, he was excited to visit!  So he spent all week with us skating and eating and skating and more skating.  We started out with a potluck at Sunday night freestyle.  Everyone seemed to enjoy spending time together and just getting to know JJ a little before camp and lessons started.

Then on Monday night after camp we took JJ to Hibachi for some local grillin' fun.  It was fun to see the chef chop everything up and do all the fun tricks with the spatulas.  He kept making bad jokes about "credit cards" in a very heavy Japanese accent.  He also faked throwing food at various people throughout the night.  The only food he actually threw, he threw to Kinzleigh, and she caught a shrimp!
Throughout the week we hit up a couple more local favorites for dinner including Pies-N-Pints and Cafe Romeo for gelato...a couple of times.  Then one night we just stayed in and grilled out at our house.

Then on Friday the kids skated a great exhibition and JJ skated too.  Then when camp was over we had a big pizza and cupcake party and the kids (and coaches) rode the bumper cars!
