Awana Awards Night

Wednesday, April 27, 2016

Emily finished her third and final Sparks book for Awana at Bible Center Church this year.  She has really enjoyed her time with the kids over the past three years and loves her leader, Phil.  He was a out for a couple of weeks this winter after his wife became ill and Emily didn't want to go back. Luckily his  wife improved and he returned...and so did Emily.

For finishing Sparks and her third book, she received a pin, a bible and a very nice plaque.  She is very proud.  If she continues on next year, she will join Truth in Training - otherwise known as TNT. She is not sure she wants to continue as church time on Wednesday nights competes with ice time and lessons with Amanda. So we'll see..

ACSI Fine Arts Competition

Drama teacher, Mrs. Brown, Madison & Emily
Emily's gold medal in the drama recital last month at BCS landed her in the top 6 of her second grade class and gave her the chance to compete in the ACSI competition in Teays Valley. She was so excited to earn a spot.  Along with Emily, three of her best friends also earned spots - Madison, Kaylyn and Ashton.

The girls all did their pieces back to back and stood in the hall cheering each other on all the way.    It was precious.

This competition was a growing experience for Mommy too.  Emily's teacher cautioned parents against going into the classroom to watch.  If the child looked at you, they could lose points.  So, I talked to Emily in the hallway about this and we decided she would go in and face the judges and do her piece alone.  So that is what she did.

After the girls were all done performing, we took Emily, Madison and Kaylyn out for brunch at IHOP to celebrate. Ashton stayed behind to cheer on her older sister.  Emily got all the girls stuffed owls to say congratulations on their great work and then they all came over for a play date.  So much fun on such a big day!!!

Now we wait for the results...

Daniel's Birthday!

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

We celebrated Daniel's birthday after work/school.  Not a HUGE celebration, but we had all the makings of a good birthday - family, dinner out, presents and cake (ice cream cake to be exact)! Daniel got 2 new t-shirts, a couple of new polo shirts, new shorts, and some remote control switch thingys that make our garage and porch lights turn on and off via timer.  He was very pleased with them.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!

Random Spring Fun

April 2016

Sometimes fun can come in every day experiences.  So this post is dedicated to that.  The joy of the everyday fun stuff.
Here we have the joy of celebrating straight A's
in the 3rd Quarter with free donuts at Krispy Kreme!
...and the joy of the simple handstand.

We love birthday parties with friends and this celebration of Madison's birthday was no exception.
Madison is on Emily's right
as you look at the picture.
Besties Kaylyn (left) and Ashton (right)
celebrated with Madison too!

We celebrated parents at BCS one morning with free chicken biscuits and a visit from the Ram AND Chick-Fil-A Cow!

We have come to a point where loose teeth (and lost teeth) are a frequent event!  Stay tuned because the top two center front teeth are also loose!

Finally, nothing says "celebrate the joys of the every day moments" like a visit to the playground... especially when your daughter brings a beloved book along.  Love her so much!
