We all woke up to a gift first thing Christmas morning - snow! Our first white Christmas in over a decade. So exciting and so beautiful (and so not 2020).
Everyone slept in a bit this year (I even had time for a shower before gifts) so we were a little later getting our Christmas morning started, but we did finally manage to sit down for breakfast about 9:00am. Gingerbread French toast - Yum!
Then it was time for stockings. Everyone got one again this year. They're just so fun. Emily got a baby Yoda hat that she had been wanting since summer.
We also let Zoey enjoy all of her presents and treats in her stocking. She got a new pet puff bed too! Good thing we let her have her gifts early because she was quickly back to sleep.
After a few stocking gifts and watching Zoey enjoy her gifts, it was time for a Zoom call with Scott, Karen, Nora and Wesley. They had decided pretty early on that a big Christmas gathering was not a great idea, so they stayed home this year. Luckily we got to watch the kids get their gifts anyway. Nora loved the art kit we sent and Wesley would not put the flippy sequin dinosaur down. You can kind of see it in his left hand. It is blue.

After we finished Zoom, it was time to prepare our big Christmas meal! We haven't had a big meal on Christmas Day in several years because it is so involved. But, Daniel was on call on Christmas Eve so this was our best option. We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli, corn pudding, cranberry sauce and crescents. Zoey was fully aware that the big meal was forthcoming and was happy to wake up from her morning nap to check on the progress....and then she waited patiently (sort of) in the dining room for our Christmas feast to be served.
After we enjoyed our lunch (soooo good), we got cleaned up and then it was finally time for presents. Probably the latest in the day we have ever done gifts. Daniel was very excited to receive a new coffee/latte/cappuccino maker and I surprised him with a PS5! Great Christmas for Daddy!
Grandma got some new boots, a sweatshirt, a framed picture of the grandkids, garden gloves and more. I think she had a nice Christmas too.
Emily also had a very nice Christmas. Her wish list included all things cozy and fluffy. Her big gift was this fluffy "hang-around chair" from Pottery Barn Teen. She was so surprised!
She also got a fluffy robe, a new furry blanket, fleece sweatshirt and basically ALL the cozy, fluffy things. She loved it all.
Zoey also approved of Emily's fluffy gifts...but we made her share with Emily, too.
I also had a great Christmas. I got a brand new Canon R6 full frame, mirrorless camera! I was over the moon! Opening the gift was the easy part - learning all the new buttons and tricks will be the challenge in 2021, but I am up for it! I also got a new sweater, fleece leggings, an upgrade for my scrapbooking program, a new pot for the stove, Sperry fleece lines shoes and more. Definitely a great Christmas for me.
When gifting was over and everything was cleaned up, it was just about dinner time. But, since we already had out big meal, we just had a dessert party instead with ice cream roll, egg nog pie, cookies, chocolate pie and more. All very yummy and a great conclusion to our fabulous Christmas.
Also, here's what a teen looks like at Christmas when you ask her to pose for a picture...
