Potty Trained!

It's official! Emily is potty trained! It took about 3 weeks, but we have gone over a week now without an accident. Yippee! She comes to us to tell us when she has to go potty (even when she is at the playground or at a restaurant or at a birthday party - like today). She still wears a diaper at night and at nap, but it won't be long before the diaper at nap is a thing of the past too. Might be a little longer before we brave a night without a diaper, though. Mommy values her sleep and hates the thought of Emily sleeping in a wet bed.

Not too much else to report from here so I have just attached a few pictures of Emily playing around the house this weekend. As you will see, her sense of style is really coming into its own.

Potty Training!

Emily started potty training in big girl underwear the week of Labor Day. We made it a little difficult on her because she practiced all week at school for two weeks and then we messed it up on the weekends by taking her to the beach (Labor Day) and then to Cacapon (last weekend). So she just did not get as much practice in as she should have. This week, though, we kicked it into high gear and on Monday she had her first accident-free day complete with poop in the potty! I was really excited, but several poop accidents followed this week. She has pretty much figured out when she has to pee-pee and she has not had many wet accidents.

This weekend we stuck around the house more and really focused on potty training and the results were great! She had no accidents at all! She told us when she needed to potty and when she needed to poop and she stayed dry at nap today. She even told us when she had to potty at the playground and at a restaurant (glad I bought those potty seat covers). Serious progress for serious potty training. Let's hope we're getting close to getting rid of those diapers (and the diaper genie)!

Cacapon!

Daddy took Emily to Grandma Miller's family reunion at Cacapon State Park in West Virginia on September 10-12. Emily got to visit with Grandma and Granddad Miller, Uncle Andy and Cousin Jacob, Uncle Charles and Aunt Alison, Great-Grandma Gamble and Great Grandma and Granddad Miller. She definitely got to see almost the whole Miller crew! Jacob and Emily had a great time playing together. They played Mr. Potato Head and of course they played with all of Granddad's Thomas trains! Granddad even got Emily the Sir Toppem Hat little blue race car that she wanted.

At Cacapon, Jacob and Emily played on the playground and spent the rest of the afternoon at the lake. As you can see, they both ended up quite wet (and without most of their clothes), but they had a blast! Emily played so much she did not even get a nap! Daddy has a lot of great childhood memories from Cacapon so I am glad Emily will have fun memories (in a few years at least) at Cacapon too!

One Last Beach Trip for 2010

We spent this morning at the beach. Emily and Daddy and Emily and Uncle Scott all braved the "deep waves" while Mommy stayed closer to shore. Daddy lost 2 pairs of sunglasses in the deep waves...actually make that 1 pair. A few minutes after he lost the second pair, a lady in the ocean yelled out that she found sunglasses and Uncle Scott went to claim them for Daniel. Lucky Daddy! Emily had great fun smashing all of Mommy's sandcastles. She also liked drawing lines and circles in the sand. She collected some seashells, sticks and leaves too. This was a great wrap up to our summer of beach trips... although I did sneak a peek at our calendar to see if we could come back one more time. We can't. Oh well. What a great summer!!

Rides!

Emily got one last trip to Broadway at the Beach so she could ride the rides at the old time carnival. She got 5 tickets to ride ($3.00 a piece - man I am in the wrong business) and she made the most of them. She chose the boats first. She told me in the parking lot that the boats would be first. Then she wanted to ride the cars. She liked the cars so she rode them twice. On the way back to the boats, she found the pirate ship and wanted to ride that. So the last ticket was wisely saved for the little boats. Good choices Emily! When the tickets were gone, there were no tears. I was very proud of her.

Beach Playground

We took Emily to the tree house playground at the villas yesterday afternoon after nap. Amazingly enough, she could do almost everything in the treehouse. She had a blast. She needed some help on the tire ladder (mostly climbing down) so Uncle Scott tried to help. Unfortunately, the tire ladder was built for people under 200lbs and Uncle Scott got stuck! It was too funny, but he finally squirmed his way out. He is such a good sport. No wonder he was Emily's favorite all weekend!

Labor Day Beach Trip

We went back to our favorite spot at Myrtle Beach for the last weekend of the summer - the Villas at Marriott Grand Dunes. This time we brought Uncle Scott and Aunt Karen along too. This morning we tackled the beach for several hours and then the splash pool. We had a nice lunch on our balcolny and now Emily and Aunt Karen are napping, Uncle Scott and Daddy are napping and I am blogging away. Here are a few early pics of our adventures so far. I feel sure more pictures and blogging will be coming soon from this trip.

Bounce House Fun

One of Emily's little friends from down the street, Vanessa, invited her to go to her mom's company picnic last weekend. There were several bounce houses - or as Emily would say "things that look like Jump Zone Mommy" - and arts and crafts for the kids as well as a picnic. Emily and Vanessa had a blast. I've also added a little clip of Emily in the bounce house so you can get the full effect. She LOVES bounce houses!!
