Beach Trip (Day 1)

This was our annual Memorial Day beach trip weekend! We headed back down to Myrtle Beach to the Marriott Grand Dunes Villas. We love it here. Grandma and Grandpa Heintz came too. I keep hoping someday we will own a condo here. Dare to dream I guess.
Saturday morning we headed to the beach. It started out a little cloudy, but it ended up being the perfect weather. Emily took all of her sand toys to the beach and her new Ariel barbie doll too. She dug and dug and played and played. Daddy took her out into the deep waves. After some fun on the beach, we all hit the pool. Emily is quite a little fish. She loves to swim and dunk and do cannonballs. We all have a little more sun than we intended, but it has been a great first day!

National Zoo!

As luck would have it, I was in trial last week at the same time Daniel was on vacation. So, Daddy took Emily to Martinsburg for a few days to visit Grandma and Granddad. While they were there, Emily had her first trip to the zoo! Daddy, Grandma and Emily visited the National Zoo in Washington, DC and they got the full DC experience by riding the Metro to the zoo! Daddy reports that Emily was not too keen on the zoo initially, but she was able to find some animals that she liked and ended up having a great time.

Fun on the Farm

Last weekend I took Emily to her friend Katie' s birthday party. They had the party on this little local farm. It was a really great venue, the weather was perfect and the kids all had a blast. They had farm animals, donkey rides, tire swings made to look like a horse, a hay ride, arts and crafts and so much more. Emily really had a great time but I think her favorite part, other than the cake, was the donkey ride. She really loved the donkey. I'd say it was a great birthday party!

Easter!

This year Emily really enjoyed all things Easter. The Easter Bunny brought her a basket full of goodies - complete with lots of princess things, candies, a craft project, Dora DVD and more! The Easter buny actually hid her basket this year so when she came downstairs she actually had to hunt for it. Luckily she found it pretty easily. The Easter Bunny also hid a lot of Easter eggs and each had a special princess ring, bracelet or necklace inside. She really loved all of the new jewelry. She also got some special gifts from Mommy & Daddy (imagine that), Grandma & Grandpa Heintz, Grandma & Granddad Miller and Great Grandma and Great Granddad Miller. Check out the newest princess dress (Belle) below. I would say she had one really great day!

Coloring Eggs & Easter Playdate

The Saturday before Easter, Emily had a playdate with her friend, Sam. The kids hunted for Easter eggs, colored eggs, and even baked Easter cookies. Of course they also took out every toy in the house and ran all over the place - all the marks of a good playdate I guess.

Brief mommy aside - I hard boiled my very first eggs for this little adventure. I only broke 2 eggs and those weren't my fault. They stuck to the egg carton and I could not get them out. So they broke. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Emily only wanted to color about 6 of her 10 eggs and even with those she only wanted to put the egg in and then take it back out. But we did try out putting an E for Emily on one egg with a crayon and she liked that. Then when she lost interest, I colored the eggs a little more. She liked all the colors, but the pink and purple eggs were her favorite. Shocking, I know.
