Skate Pittsburgh

 Saturday, April 24, 2021

After a long time away from in person competitions, it was finally time to go back!  Our first competition, post-Covid was Skate Pittsburgh!  This was an Excel qualifying competition so Emily got to test out her brand new freeskate - Excel Intermediate.  This year she is skating to The Piano Guys "Limitless."  She tried to skate a program to this music for Excel in 2020, but obviously that was a bust.  So, we had it re-cut to make it a little longer for Intermediate level.

Her Excel group was the first to skate.  She skated a clean program complete with 2 axels, a double salchow and a double toe.  the double toe was a jump she really struggled on the few weeks before this competition, but we were hopeful that it would be ok in competition.  She skated a great program was came in first place!  She was over the moon!

Immediately after freeskate (luckily no long wait time), she skated compulsory moves and jumps.  Unfortunately she had no one else in her group so not really a competition, but she did get to take home 2 more gold medals.  She really did earn them because she skated both programs clean with no falls.  It was kind of a short trip though because she was finished with all of her events by 11:00am.  This actually worked out ok though because we had to head back up this way the following weekend too for another competition at Mt. Lebanon.  YAY!

Happy Birthday Daniel!

 Monday, April 19, 2021

Happy Birthday to Daniel!  48 looks good on you!  Since Daniel's birthday fell on a work/school day we had to wait until the evening to celebrate his special day.  His dinner of choice was hot dogs and crispy crowns!  Glad he's not too fancy.  He also had an Oreo Cookies & Cream cake and lots of presents.  He got a new bed pillow (that ended up going back, sadly), new summer shorts, some Run Disney t-shirts from the Star Wars race that was cancelled due to Covid, new running shoes, boxes of his favorite soft pretzels and Cheryl's cookies and more.  I think he enjoyed his special day very much.  Happy, happy birthday Daniel!

Happy Easter!

 Sunday, April 4, 2021

We had a pretty low key Easter this year between the ongoing pandemic and Daniel being on call, it was just Emily and I today to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.  She had a great Easter basket waiting to be found (hiding in the guest room) and lots of great treats including summer flip flops (with hedgie on them), a bunny Pusheen, hedgie beach towel, a Lilly Pulitzer notebook, a hedgie lanyard and a fun space themed bracelet.

She also loved all the fun Easter candy - especially the Peeps and Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs!  YUM!
Further to the point that we are still in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, we also enjoyed an Easter Bunny drive-by.  Funny, huh?  But it was kinda cool. We also put up our Easter tree at home too!
