In Memory of Great Granddad Miller

Monday, July 15, 2013

Sadly, the day started early in the morning with the news of the passing of Daniel's Grandfather, Emily's Great Grandfather, and the man who made me so very happy to have another Grandfather in my life - Charles Miller.  He was 93.  He was married to Great Grandma Miller, Ruth, for over 71 years.  Literally, until the day he passed, he lived on his beautiful orchard tending (as much as he could) to his fruit trees.  He loved his farm and he loved his family.  Looking back, we are thrilled that we had the opportunity to visit at Easter and spend some time with him.

We will all certainly miss him very, very much.  The Lord has called another angel home.  May he rest in peace.

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Sunday, July 14, 2013

Since my birthday was on a Monday this year, we celebrated on Sunday.  Daddy and Emily gave m a very nice day.  The morning started with breakfast and presents.  I got a gift card to Michael's craft store and some scrapbook supplies, a gift certificate to the spa in Hawaii, a frying pan (which we later exchanged for a crock pot), a photo album and more.  All my favorite things, all wrapped up just for me.  It was great.  Then we spent some time at the pool and wrapped up the day with cake!  It was a really great day.  It doesn't feel too bad to be 38.

Ridges Pool Fun

July 2013

As I was looking through pictures of the summer, I realized I had not posted very many pictures of our MANY pool adventures.  So, here are a few of my favorites.  It has been a very fun summer with our little fish.
Relaxin'...I think this float is on her Christmas list!

4th of July Party

Thursday, July 4, 2013

We had a big bash for the 4th of July this year.  We had a big cookout with Grandma and Grandpa, Bonnie, Nathan and Lauren.  Then later in the evening we had a big dessert and fireworks party with Grandma, Grandpa, Bonnie, Nathan, Lauren AND our neighbors - Ashley, Jeremy, Reagan and Owen Stapleton and Melissa, Jason, Jeff and Jacob Moody.

Before the sun went down we broke out the sparklers!  The kids loved the sparklers.  Unfortunately one spark hit Emily's shoulder and she spent most of the rest of the night scared of the fireworks.  But, she still participated a little....just from a slightly greater distance.

Once the sun went down and tummies were full of treats, the guys got to work on setting off the fireworks.

The Boys of Summer
And they were beautiful.  It was such a fun night.  I almost enjoyed the 4th of July more than Christmas. Very happy memories for sure.

Spa Play Date

Sunday, June 23, 2013

Emily and Reagan had a play date after the trip to the movies on Sunday.  They pulled out the Ariel hair salon, some dress up clothes and costume jewelry and then dumped out all the toys in two bins to make a SPA!  Yep, they were getting their toe nails done.  Oh my.  I could be I trouble in a couple of years.  But man they are cute!

Monsters University

Sunday, June 23, 2013

We hit up the movies on Sunday afternoon for family movie day...and we doubled the fun by going with our neighbors!  We went to see Monster University, the prequel to Monsters, Inc.  It was pretty cute.  Finally a movie I did not feel like I wasted my money and two precious hours of time watching.  It was fun and the kids had a blast with their popcorn trays!

Water Fun

Thursday, June 20, 2013

Proving further that Emily was not really sick, after we got home from the meeting at the Ronald McDonald House (and celebrating WV Day with cookies), Reagan and Owen were outside in the sprinklers and of course Emily wanted to join in!  Hard to say no, so....well, here is the result.

Happy 150th Birthday West Virginia

Thursday, June 20, 2013

We had a bizarre event on Wednesday afternoon.  Emily threw up basically out of nowhere when she got home from school.  Then she seemed totally fine.  But, I could not take her back to school for 24 hours so Thursday was a "sick" day.

I had a meeting at noon at the Ronald McDonald House so she had to come with me.  BUT, the Ronald McDonald House is right next door (almost) to Sugar Pie Bakery and in honor of West Virginia Day they were having a story reading with cookies.  So, we went.  Then grabbed McDonald's and headed on to my meeting.

Happy 150th Birthday West Virginia!
