Disney World - Day 5 Animal Kingdom

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Today was Animal Kingdom day!  In the past when we've gone to Animal Kingdom we've headed straight for Kilimanjaro Safari.  This year we pushed that Fast Pass back a bit and went straight to Expedition Everest.  It turned out to be a good choice because the kids got to ride about to ride 5 times in a row and they were thrilled!

After we conquered Everest then we headed over to Kilimanjaro  Safari to see the animals and, as usual, they did  NOT disappoint.  We saw giraffes, elephants, lions, gazelles and so much more.   I could fill a whole photo album (and this blog entry) with nothing but animal pictures, but there is still so much more to tell!

After the safari, we walked Gorilla Falls and rode the Wildlife Train to the Affection Station at Rafiki's  Planet Watch.  We did not have a lot of time to take everything in, but the girls did have time to pet the animals a bit.

After our petting zoo fun, we had reservations for lunch at Tusker House to see Mickey and friends all dressed up in their safari gear.  Despite the fact that it is a buffet, it is actually pretty good and there are lots of different kinds of food on it.  So its a nice change.
Our lunch ran a little long waiting on all the characters, so our fabulous server got us later Fast Passes for the Lion King Show.  So we got to enjoy our dessert, use restrooms organize our stuff and then head to the show.  We loved every minute of Simba, Nala, Pumba and all the other friends too. It is such a great show.

After a big lunch and a little more rest at the Lion King show we had plenty of energy to ride Kali River Rapids.  This was the first time we had ever gotten to ride this one and while it was short, it was fun and we definitely got wet.  So, to dry off?  Everest again, of course!  So much fun at Animal Kingdom, but it was also time to get back to the resort and rest up a bit before heading into Magic Kingdom for Wishes and The Main Street Electrical Parade!  We just had to see the parade one more time before they pack it up and send it to Disneyland before retiring it for good.  Plus, we LOVE Wishes.  It was such a  great day!
