Myrtle Beach - Day 3

Monday, June 11, 2018

This is the first year Emily has really taken to sleeping in.  I don't think she was up much before 9:00am on any day this trip.  I suppose she is staying up at night a little later, but she's also coming close to the teen years so I guess sleeping in is part of that.

When the kids finally got up, we went straight to the beach.  The weather was beautiful and it was a nice time to enjoy the sand.  The kids built sand castles and dug holes.
And they spent some more time on their boogie boards too.  They definitely had the hang of it on this trip!

We head to head in a little early today so we could grab some lunch and get ready for the duckie race over at Woodsy pool.  Emily loves the duck race and one year she even won one!

They didn't win this year, but no big deal because they did get to keep their ducks!  Then it was time for more swimming...this time, mermaid style!
We wrapped up our fun in the sun a little early this afternoon because we had big evening plans - an escape room!  We have never done one before and the kids were super excited.  Basically, you get clues and you have to solve riddles to find things like keys to doors or codes to open things.  If you complete everything within 60 minutes, you escape.  If not, you lose.  The one we did was very hard.  Only something like 18%of people escape.  But it was really, really well done and based on the Lost City of Atlantis.  It was really fun.  But we didn't escape.  When they showed us how some of the rest of the riddles worked, I don't think we would have made it out even in another hour, but again it was super fun and we would definitely try another one sometime.

When the game was over we made a stop for ice cream (of course) and then realized a storm was coming in.  It seemed imminent, but we made it back to the resort before it hit.  It was a big one!  Then it was off to bed to rest up for another day of fun!!
