Emily didn't skate today until late in the afternoon, which meant we had the morning off! So, we met up with some of our group for breakfast at a local gem - Pancake Pantry! It is so popular that a line typically forms outside in the morning and sometimes wraps around the block! Luckily, even with our party of 7, it did not take long to get in. Emily and I had a hard time choosing, so she got banana bread pancakes and I got the apple walnut and we shared. As it turned out, she liked hers best and I liked mine best, but it was still fun to share and try both!
After breakfast we had a little more time to kill before Kinsley skated so we made a stop at the Villanova bookstore. Our hotel (and the ice rink) were practically on campus so it was almost like having a little college tour too!
Then it was off to the rink to cheer on Kinz! Before heading back to the hotel to change for her long program we made a quick walk-through Centennial Park (just across the street from the rink) to see the Parthenon and it did not disappoint! Of course, it helped that the weather was amazing too!
For the long program there were only 2 groups of seven and most of the seven in Emily's group were not in her group for the short, but score wise, she looked like she had another chance to medal. She still had to put in a double axel (again no credit) but this time she also fell on one double lutz and bobbled a couple other landings. But her spins were great and she finally got a level 2 for the step sequence! That in and of itself felt like a big victory! Ultimately she had to settle for 4th, but she still did get a medal and she was reasonably pleased with her skate overall once she watched it back. She just looks so much more polished this year. Again it was hard to narrow down the pics.
