Visit to Gritt's Farm

Sunday, October 13, 2019
We were a little late in the season getting to Gritt's  Farm this year.  We wanted to go a couple of weeks earlier, but it rained.  So we tried again.  An up side to waiting until a little later in  the season to go is that it definitely felt like fall. It was very chilly.  The first order of business on this trip was  the picking of our pumpkins!

With our pumpkins loaded in the trunk, it was time for all the fun stuff on the farm!  They had this really cool new pumpkin house this year.  There wasn't really anything to do inside, but it made for some great pictures.

The girls were not as interested in pictures as they were in the giant slides.  So off they went.  Daniel and  I headed off to find the homemade apple cinnamon donuts.  YUM!

Then we were off to the go cart and tricycle track.  You would think maybe the girls would have outgrown these, but not so much.  Frankly, I worried that maybe Emily would have outgrown Gritt's this year, but lucky for me she hasn't outgrown it yet!  The girls also conquered the rope maze!

Emily would never pass up a chance to pet and feed the animals.
Next it was time to ride the tractor out to the second section of the farm for more fun!

This section of the farm has lots more fun stuff.  There were hardly any crowds this year (maybe because of the cold) so we had lots of time to do everything! The girls tried out the new giant trampoline. They really got some air!  They also got to try the carnival style football games.  None of us were very good at it.  The girls got to try their hand lassoing cattle.  Yeah, not much success there either, but so fun to watch.  They also tried some archery. No one hit a deer, but they did hit the hay stacks.  Then it was time for zipline fun.  Not nearly as big or long as the ones at the Homestead, but still a very good time.

Then we tackled the corn maze.  This year's theme was the history of Gritt's farm. It was really interesting and we successfully completed the whole maze in about 45 minutes.

Here's to hoping that Emily hasn't outgrown Gritt's by next year.  We always have such  fun.  Happy Fall y'all!
