We were off this weekend for round two of exhibitions at Canaan Valley. This time it was much, much warmer - almost 65 degrees! We arrived at the rink about 5:00 on Friday night and got Emily changed for the 7:00pm show. There was a big section of ice that was starting to melt, but luckily there was still enough ice to skate on. The hope was that it would refreeze overnight. Emily skated her Robin Hood program one last time and did a great job. And, just like Christmas, the girls did an opening and closing group number. It was a great show!
Saturday morning, we all made a trip to see Blackwater Falls. It was only about 15 minutes away from the resort and it was really, really beautiful. It had been raining a lot so there was a lot of water going over the falls. And, since the weather was nice, it was really fun!
No trip to Davis is complete without a stop at Tip Top coffee shop. Emily fell in love with their pumpkin espresso muffins at Christmas and could not wait to go back.
Unfortunately, due to the warm weather and overnight rain, the ice was melting quickly so they closed the rink completely. But the kids did not have to be sad for too long because Dave at the rink gave them all free passes to go tubing! The girls had a blast...even though there was almost no snow!
After tubing, we headed back into Davis and had dinner at the Wild Weed Pub. Sounds weird, I know, but the food was really good. Then the kids wanted to swim again...and then go play in the game room. But for me, it was off to bed. Even without the skating, it was a fun trip!
