Hollywood Studios Day 2

 Tuesday, September 15, 2020

Today was our second day at Hollywood Studios.  I honestly cannot recall why we set 2 days back to back here, but we did.  Yesterday when we arrived (at park opening) the line was already closed for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway.  So today we arrived really early...so early the line for the parking lot wasn't even open yet.  But it paid off!  We got into the park before opening, got in line, rode Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, and were off by 9:00am.  It was sort of like parts of Rise of the Resistance - you ride in a car that moves and shakes and turns, but you watch a movie.  I thought this was going to be more like a roller coaster, but it definitely wasn't.  I would ride again, but I definitely would not wait in line for a long time to do it.

Since the park was just barely open when we finished, so we headed straight for Toy Story Land to ride Slinky Dog.  We were hoping for a short line since the lines for this can be very long.  We lucked out today and were able to ride in less than 30 minutes.

While in Toy Story Land we also had time for Alien Swirling Saucers, Toy Story Mania and also a few photo ops!  Fun!

After Toy Story Land, we were off to walk this way over to Rockin' Roller Coaster!  Love this ride.

After rockin' out, it was time to hit up Tower of Terror.  I used to hate this ride, but it has really grown on me.  I still don't like the initial drop, but I really like the part where you go back up and then down.  It's a neat feeling of weightlessness that you don't really get on any other ride.

Then it was time for lunch at Backlot Express.  We like this place because it is generally not very crowded, there is something that everyone likes to eat and they have good desserts.  Today's treat was an oatmeal sandwich cookie that was really, really good.
Then, right next door, was Star Tours so we decided to check that out too.

Keeping with the Star Wars theme, our next stop was Galaxy's Edge!  We still did not get a spot on Rise of the Resistance, but we did manage to enjoy other parts of the world including Black Spire Outpost for some shopping.

We closed out our visit to Hollywood Studios and Galaxy's Edge with a visit to Oga's Cantina.  It definitely looks and feels like what you would think it would based on the movies.  There are lots of weird drinks and foods and interesting critters everywhere.  While it was hard to choose from such an odd selection of one-of-a-kind beverages, we ultimately decided on a blue milk for Emily and I and a beer for Daddy.  It was a neat experience and our table was really cool.

When we got back to Bay Lake Tower, we decided to have a low key evening.  We rested a bit and then headed straight for the pool.  We even ate our dinner there so we would have extra time to relax.

Then we headed back up to the room to shower and change before getting cupcakes at Contempo and then heading to bed.  Another great, and very full day!  Tomorrow - Magic Kingdom (finally)!
