We had Sunday morning off since the skating exhibition wasn't until 2pm so we decided to take on a new adventure - the Museum of Ice Cream. It was just a short Uber ride from our hotel and it was super fun!
We got in about 10:30 and the fun started nearly immediately with ice cream bars for all in a fun soda fountain kind of atmosphere. We didn't know it yet, but we would be back here again at the end. Then we went into a room filled with ice cream trivia.
Then we made our way into the CreamLiner - an ice cream themed airplane. It was cute. You sat in a seat and you kind of flew through an ice cream world. During your "flight" they had a little beverage cart that came around and served orange cream ice cream cups.
After our flight, we found ourselves in a room full of refrigerators. It was funny. Some of them had things inside and some were open and you could get inside. Very interesting.
After exiting cold storage, we headed into what was like a little house with different rooms - kitchen, family room, secret library room. It had interesting finds in every corner.
One such interesting find was this little wall of toppings and a series of little bells. Turned out, that if you rang the little bell, the little arched door would swing around revealing a little ice cream sandwich! To me, this was the best treat of the tour.
Next up was a walk through a rainbow to reach a fun little carnival room. There were lots of games to play and since it wasn't very crowded, we played several. At this stop there was an ice cream flavored cotton candy!
This one was a little weird for me, but I totally get it. At the end of the carnival we ended up at a cafeteria style experience where they served Boston Lobster Roll ice cream baskets - complete with the little bun to put the lobster flavored ice cream in to make the sandwich.
The cafeteria line then spilled out into the little soda fountain cafe that we had seen at the beginning of the tour. We stopped there and passed on the lobster roll ice cream in favor of their signature sundae - served in a sprinkle pool...which we knew they had here somewhere, but we still had not found it yet.
We got 3 scoops of ice cream with chocolate and caramel sauce, whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry. It was yummy and we got to take home our little sprinkle pool.
Finally, at the very end, we found the sprinkle pool. You had to use a slide to access it. Yes, even I went on the slide. Grown ups were, in fact, allowed. It was so fun. It was the perfect end to a really fun "museum" experience.
