Awana Yacht Race

Today was the Awana Yacht Race at Bible Center Church. From the day the flyers went home about the race, Emily was determined to participate.  So we bought the kit and brought it home.  This year she was determined to win a prize, but not for racing...for decoration.  She went with a John 3:16 theme.  She picked her own paint - gold glitter and yellow.  She named her boat "Sonshine."  We helped her make the sail out of the bottom of a milk carton.   It seemed to work pretty well.

Unfortunately Sonshine was not as fast as its competitors so she came up short in the race department.  She was ok with that.  Then it was time for judging of the yacht decorations.  She crossed her fingers and waited, but her name was not called.  She seemed pretty sad, but she clapped for everyone else and said she was still glad she participated.  I was very proud of her good sportsman-like conduct and I do think she had fun even if she didn't win.
