USFS Testing

After just a couple of months of working on her next set of Moves in the Field, Emily was ready to give it a go on Pre-Juvenile Moves to see if she could pass.  She had not been working on these moves very long - basically just since after the Pittsburgh competition in late August.  But, her new coach, Heidi, seemed to think she might be ready.  Emily's friend  Kelsie was also testing.  She was testing the same tests that Emily did in July at Miami after camp.  So, we signed up and Emily decided to give it a shot.
Figure Skating BFFs!
The thing about Pre-Juvenile Moves is that they are very edge focused and they really want to start separating the recreational skaters from the serious skaters so the test is hard.  Unfortunately, Emily stumbled into her first set of three-turns and then also put a foot down in another place too.  It was unfortunate, but good in a way too because at least she knew what she had done wrong.  So, she did not pass this time - she got retry - but one of the judges really encouraged her to try again (and  I know she will).  She getting ready for a competition now, but as soon as that is over she'll be back on moves again.  She's hoping to try again in March in Dayton or Oxford.

We were very proud of her at the test session because she took her "retry" very well and stuck around to support the other skaters, cheer them on, and celebrate with those who passed - including Kelsie who passed both of her tests and her old coach, Amanda who passed adult silver moves too.
