Colorado Springs!

Emily's performance at Skate Dallas earned her a spot at Excel Nationals so we were off to Colorado Springs!  Due to Miami camp being right after nationals, we had to drive to Dayton to catch our flight.  That way we could also fly home to Dayton and get Emily to camp at the end of the week.  It all really worked out pretty well because flying out of Dayton there was a direct flight to Denver!  Daniel had to stay behind initially to work, but he planned to join us on Friday.  We left at about 9:30am and landed in Denver about 1pm.  Then we grabbed our rental car and drove about 90 minutes into Colorado Springs.

We had a little time to kill when we arrived because we could not check into the house we rented until 4pm so we stopped at a Red Robin for lunch.  Then once we got into town, we drove around a bit before heading out to find the house.  We still had time to kill so we opted for a caffeine stop at the local starbucks.  That was a good choice.  We also grabbed some groceries.  Then we checked into the house and got unpacked.

We had a three bedroom house on a nice cul-de-sac.  It was a little far outside of the town (about 15 mins to World Arena) but it was also kind of nice to be away from the stress of a hotel filled with skaters.  It was really very nice!  We had three good sized bedrooms, two bathrooms, a nice kitchen/family room, a game room on the third floor and even a roof top deck!

We didn't have a ton of time to settle in before we were off to Emily's first freestyle session (at the Olympic training center) to start getting acclimated to the elevation.  It was fun to be back here and this time get to see her jump and spin and really skate.  Last fall, she could only do the public session and they didn't allow all of that.  We definitely started this trip out on the right note!
