Myrtle Beach - Day Three

Monday, August 5, 2019

There were a few new fun activities on our agenda for today, but first more time on the beach.  The little stream that we have loved ever since Emily was a tiny toddler was back this morning, so the girls made a beeline right for it.  They also spent a little more time riding the waves on their boogie boards.

I'm kind of in love with the pic of them walking out to the ocean.  Reminds me how small we are in this world.  Then, shortly after this picture was taken, there was a shark alert and the life guards made everyone get out of the ocean.  Eeek!  I guess this picture should remind me that we are only visitors, guests of the ocean and its creatures.
We couldn't stay on the beach too long this morning because it was time for our first activity on the girls' wish list - the duckie race at Woodsy water slide!  Neither of the girls won this year, but they sure did like cheering on the ducks!

Rather than go back up to the room for lunch today (since the duck race ran into our usual lunch time) we just stayed at Woodsy pool for lunch.  The girls had corn dogs and fries with Dippin' Dots for dessert!
Then more pool time!  Today they tried out the splash pad and had loads of fun.
We had a pretty full day in the sun, so for the evening activity we opted for something inside - an Escape Room!  We tried this one last year and failed, but this year we were determined to take what we learned last year and make it out in time!  (Honestly, I did not think we stood a chance, but it is fun whether you escape or not so off we went!)  The four of us really worked well together through all of the puzzles and we were able to divide and conquer.  The puzzles at the end were tough, but we pushed through.  And then just when we thought we had completed the game, we realized we needed one last power crystal.  Then Kaylyn remembered the flashlight - the crystal was inside the flashlight!  That was it. That was the last piece we needed!  We made it out with 32 seconds to spare!  WE ESCAPED and boy did we cheer!!!  Such fun!

We celebrated our win with dinner at Landry's (where the girls fed crackers to the fish off the patio) followed by ice cream (no night at the beach is complete without ice cream) at Kilwin's.

So many great adventures today!  Loved every single minute!  Wonder what fun tomorrow will hold?
