Christmas Eve morning found the whole crew enjoying the annual tradition of making gingerbread houses! This year all the girls got matching aprons and Wesley got a little chef coat. Very cute! It was nice to have Scott, Karen, Nora and Wesley all visiting this year for Christmas. I think their last Christmas visit was in 2018 and Wesley was still really little and of course we missed last year due to Covid. Anyway, Emily made a log cabin, Nora and Wesley made traditional houses and Grandma made a little dog house. So cute! They were all different and all terrific!
Then it was time for our big dinner. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls, green beans and corn casserole. It was all really yummy, but the one who was most excited about the meal was Zoey.
Then after dinner we loaded up the cars and headed downtown to see the Lights of Coonskin! The display seemed somewhat smaller than in prior years, but at least this year they did it. Last year there were no lights at all and that was kind of sad.
When we got home it was time for baths/shower (complete with Santa bath bomb) and then cookies and milk for Santa. After the little cousins were off to dreamland, Emily found her spot on the couch not for Christmas movies, but for the Russian National Figure Skating Championships. And finally, no Christmas Eve would be complete without Daddy's annual reading of The Night Before Christmas.
Ok, hurry Santa!! We're ready!
