More Weekend Retreat Fun

Saturday, September 14, 2024

This morning started with everyone sleeping in!  YAY!  Then Daniel went out for another bike ride.  I stayed home and Emily slept a little more.  Then about 10:30 we loaded up the car and headed for the marina to pick up a pontoon boat for a few hours.  This is always a highlight for us when we come to Stonewall.  We thought for awhile that this might rental might not happen.  We are in the middle of a really bad drought and they warned up we might not be able to have the boat if the water levels kept dropping.  By the time we arrived, the lake was down more than 10 feet from its normal summer level and you could really tell.  But, luckily there was still enough water that they let us take the boat out.

You can really see how low the water was in some of these pictures.

We stopped the boat for a bit and since it was so warm outside, we thought, for a brief moment, that we might grab the life jackets and go for a swim.  Yeah, that thought was short lived.  The water was so cold!

After we returned the boat, we headed over to the kayak shack to see if we could boat a little more.  We really enjoy kayaking - ever since Covid years.  It really is very relaxing and fun.  Again, you can see how low the water was by looking at the clearance in the tunnel.  It is usually a much tighter fit - like we could almost touch the ceiling!

After we turned in our boats we decided to go to the pool for one last summer hurrah.  It was very crowded, but still fun.  We even got some fun, frosty drinks and got in some rounds of skip disc, too.

We closed out the night with steaks on the grill with baked potatoes and s'mores for dessert, of course!

On Sunday morning, we slept in (again) and then headed up to the clubhouse for the breakfast buffet (yum) before heading home.  What a nice weekend break we had!  Hope to do it again soon!
