Merry Christmas 2025

Thursday, December 25, 2025

Santa found us and wow were there a lot of gifts this year.  We started a little late with everyone sleeping in a bit because Daniel ended up going back to work from 7pm until about 2am.  But everyone was up and ready to go about 9:00.  The kitties started us out with their stocking and new toys.  Then we enjoyed egg nog coffee cake about 10:00.  Then it was time for stockings.  We kind of went around the circle a bit and let people open things one at a time so it took a little bit of time...which was fine.  I mean longer Christmas is better than shorter Christmas.  Then we started with some presents, but by then it was almost noon so we had to take a little break to finish all the big meal prep.

We had Thanksgiving on repeat, basically.  We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn casserole, broccoli, cranberry sauce and crescent rolls.  Seems like a lot of food for 4 people, but it was delicious.  Milo inspected the turkey during carving (happy memories of Zoey) and all the kitties got some turkey during lunch in their own little bowls.

Then we got back into gifts after the meal had been cleaned up.  There were still a bunch to open.  Some favorite gifts for folks this year included:

Daniel:  Helly Hansen Coat
              Car Jack
              New running shoes
              Phone holder for taking pictures

Emily:    ReMarkable tablet
               Central Park Sweatshirt
               Sweaters - lots of them
               Cosmetic bags
Mickey Santa hat to match Dad

Grandma: Book of Emily's senior pictures
                 New jeans (2 pairs)
                 Figure Skater precious moments figure
                 Sweater with holly on it

Me:    Binoculars & Mickey raincoat for Alaska trip
           Heated towel rack
           Tennis shoes & rain boots
Starbucks x Hello Kitty merch (plush & cup)

Once all the presents were open, I had one last gift to give to the family.  Daniel, Emily and I were headed to Sun Valley just after Christmas so some skiing (them) and relaxing time (me).  So, as a gift to the family, I got us a sleigh ride dinner package.  I hope it is fun!  We go on New Year's night.  Stay tuned for pics.  This was definitely one very Merry Christmas!  Hope to do it all again next year.
