Happy Easter!

Sunday, March 31, 2024

Happy Easter!  The best part of Easter this year was Daniel and Emily getting home safely last night from Big Sky.  Then this morning we had a very low key Easter celebration with an Easter kringle for breakfast and then Easter baskets.

After breakfast and baskets, it was time to celebrate the kitties' first Easter!  These lucky little ducks got more treats and a whole bunch of new toys! Milo immediately latched onto a little tiny carrot.  It was far and away his favorite new toy.

Sasha's favorite part was the treats but I did catch her (mid-yawn) with one of the little owls.  Amelia never shows too much interest in anything, but she did seem to like one of the little bunnies.

And, from time to time they all liked getting some of their new toys out of the little basket they came in.  So cute!  Happy Easter to all!

Big Sky Ski Trip

Saturday, March 23, 2024

Since we were already in Columbus, it was very easy for Daniel and Emily to grab a flight out to Bozeman.  This year's ski trip was going to be in Big Sky - Daniel's favorite - and they were both very excited.  I stayed behind this year and went home to work and take care of the cats.  Poor Milo needed eye drops for an eye infection...twice a day...boy was that fun!

Anyway, I think the pics speak for themselves!  They had a blast and despite worrying about whether there would be sufficient good snow this late in to the winter - there was plenty.  In fact they got new snow just about every day!

Olivia Rodrigo

Friday, March 22, 2024

This was only Emily's second concert ever and she seemed WAY more excited for this one than she was for the Taylor Swift Reputation concert a few years ago.  Tickets were much harder to get than I remembered when we last went to Taylor Swift.  I could not get any from the regular Ticketmaster site, so I had to buy them through a third-party seller ($$$), ugh.  And, even though a bunch of girls from the ice rink really wanted to go, the most tickets you could buy were 4.  So we had to split up and, then, due to prices, a couple dropped out.  So it ended up the Johie and Emily went together and then Sarah and Lily went with Sarah's mom and younger sister, Layla.  Due to the prices, Daniel and I did not get tickets so Johie and Emily went on their own.  We walked them to the door of Nationwide Arena in Columbus and then walked back to meet them when it was over.  By all reports, the concert was great and they had a really fun night.

March Canaan

March 1, 2024

I can't believe we are already headed up to our last Canaan trip of the season.  The time really flies.  The skaters got a cabin this time so they were very excited.  Elle and Cate also both went on this trip so Emily was also excited to have part of the quad squad back together for a weekend.

Emily also got a new dress - well, new to her.  We saw it listed on a resale site and the measurements were perfect so I had to buy it.  She really likes it and it will be perfect for her new Novice short program - still to Separate Ways.  We'll also still use the beautiful dark navy one from last year too.

Saturday morning the girls were up and out to Thomas for morning coffees, smoothies and treats.  I really like their spinach and feta croissants (and the strawberry cream cheese ones too) and Emily got a smoothie and a congo bar for later.

They put on a great show this afternoon (lots of clean skating) and then headed somewhere new for lunch - White Grass Cafe (kind of out in the middle of a field).  Emily and I were not fans.

Then it was time for the evening show and our usual trip to Mama Mia's for dinner.  I can't believe this is it for the year already!  But - we only have 9 months until we come back!  YAY!

Disney on Ice

Sunday, February 18, 2024

One of my favorite days of the year - Disney on Ice came back to town!  This year, Dad got to come with us and Heidi and Abby also joined in the fun.  The show this year was really good.  Like always, it had snips from several different movies including Beauty & The Beasy, Toy Story, Coco, Rapunzel, Frozen, Moana and more!

Unlike some shows, this one had some really good skating in addition to some cool aerial stuff - Rapulzel had some, Tinkerbell did as well and so did Ariel and Eric in the Little Mermaid.  There was some neat glow in the dark stuff in the Coco segment too.

February Canaan

Saturday, February 10, 2024

I got to go this time!  I missed January because I was sick, but this time I was able to make it home on time from a work trip Friday night, feed the cats, grab Grandma Heintz and head to Canaan!  We left really early on Saturday morning and arrived just in time to meet the crew at Tip Top and do a little shopping in Thomas.

After coffee and shopping it was time for the afternoon show.  The weather was a little warmer than usual and boy did they have a big crowd!  I guess it was too warm for much skiing so everyone came to see the skaters!  It was a small group of skaters this time, but they all skated really well.

After the show, we headed to Siriani's for lunch then back to the lodget to rest a bit before the evening show.  We had another big crowd in the evening and this time, since it wasn't so cold, the girls even got to stay around a little longer and skate.  Then we grabbed the usual dinner at Mama Mia's.  Another fun Canaan weekend...and still one to go!
