Well, after a brief 3 days at home to do laundry and re-pack, it was off to Space Camp...at 5:30am...which meant a 3:30am wake-up call. Ugh. But we made it and these little besties were off to Huntsville!
After two very quick, on-time flights, we were in Huntsville and headed for the U.S. Space and Rocket Center for American Girl Space Camp. This year's American Girl doll of the year was Luciana and her dream was to be the first girl on Mars so her entire world (and all three books) was space themed. So when this opportunity came up last winter, we just had to get Emily a spot and luckily Reagan wanted to come too!
When we first arrived, they made us all pose for cheesy pictures, but they came out really cute. So I'm glad we did it.
Since we still had several hours before check-in we were able to spend some time with the girls touring the museum and trying out some of the activities. Naturally, they wanted to try them ALL.
Then, while still wearing the new flight suits it was finally time to move into their room for the week. I was shocked at how small the room was. There were no dressers at all. Each trainee (that's what they called them) only got a very small locker, but that did not bother Emily in the least.

Then it was time for us to go and let the girls have an adventure of a lifetime and hopefully growing a love of STEM. While we were not there to see it all, here are just a few pics of some of their activities throughout the week. They had a blast launching their own rockets, building and coding a robot, working in teams on simulated missions and training in some of the astronaut training simulators. What an amazing opportunity!
